1. Requirment
-------------

   Analog Devices MMX Software Decoder requirs the following 
   hardware and software, please make sure you have the 
   following setups before installing this filter.

   - MMX PC with 233 MHz or above.
   - Win95 or Win98 RC0/RC1.
   - Video Adapter supports UYVY Overlay.
     Suggested video adapters:
	a) ATI 3d Rage Pro
	b) STB Velocity 128
	c) Diamond Viper V330
   - DirectX 5.2 Drivers.
   - DirectX Media 5.2a.       


2.  Downloading files
---------------------

    You need to download the following compressed files to 
    install ADV1 Decode Filter.

    - DX5_2.zip to install DirectX 5.2 drivers, if you 
      already have installed this package, you can skip 
      this file and STEP 3.

    - DS5_2a.zip to install DirectX Media 5.2a, if you 
      already have installed this package, you can skip
      this file and STEP 4.

    - DSADV1a.zip to install Analog Devices Decode Filter
      software.   
	

3.  Installing DircetX 5.2 Drivers
----------------------------------
    
    ADV1 Decode Filter requires DirectX Drivers from Microsoft,
    if these drivers has already been installed by your video 
    adapter manufacturer, you can skip this step.  

    To install:
    
    - Go to \dx5_2 directory. 
    - Run "dxsetup.exe" to start installation.
    - DirectX install will reboot to complete the installation.


4.  Installing DirectX Media 5.2a
---------------------------------

    ADV1 Decode Filter requires components from Direct Media 
    5.2a provided by Microsoft.
 
    To install:
    
    - Go to \ds5_2a directory. 
    - Run "setup.exe" to start installation.


5. Register ADV1 Decode Filter
------------------------------
    
    - Go to \dsadv1a\adv1dec directory. 
    - Run "regadv1.bat" to register the filter, you only have to 
      do this once !


6.  Using ADV1 Decode Filter
----------------------------

    - Go to \dsadv1a\adv1dec directory.
    - Run "adv1play.exe" to activate ADV1 Decode filter.
    - Click on "file" and then "open" to open a 601 AVI file, 
      e.g. "cbar.avi".
    - Wait until the engrayed "play" button turn green.
    - Click on the green "play" button to decode the file. 

6a.  Create Analog Devices 601 AVI file:
    - Use Analog Devices VideoLab card to capture raw 601 file.
    - Go to \dsadv1a\adv1dec directory.
    - Run "raw2avi.exe" to convert Analog Device raw 601 file 
      into Microsoft AVI file.

6b. Run "adv1play.exe":

      This application requires some DLLs provided by Microsoft, 
      some system might not have these DLLs installed, please copy
      all the files in \dsadv1a\mfcdll directory into your window 
      system directory, e.g. c:\windows\system, if the following 
      DLLs do not exist in your computer.

	- MFC42.DLL
	- MFC42U.DLL
	- MFC42D.DLL
	- MSVCRT20.DLL
	- MSVCRT40.DLL
        - MSVCRT.DLL

Note:
-----
   
    - If your video adapter has 2MB of memory, you might need to 
      reduce your desktop resolution to 16 bits 800 x 600 mode, 
      in order to run the ADV1 Decode Filter !

    - "RAW2AVI" Rev 2.1 is the latest version of "RAW2AVI" which 
      will generate a more appropriate AVI file format for 
      ADV1 Decode Filter. 
       
    - This version of ADV1 Decode Filter will only work with 
      NTSC, Non-Square Pixel, CIF resolution AVI files, make
      you use "RAW2AVI" Rev 2.1 or above to geneate your AVI 
      files.
