Advanced Audio and Acoustic Processing for Automotive Applications - "My car is making a funny noise…."

Today's vehicles are becoming more and more quiet, which in return has made the customer highly sensitive to acoustical comfort! Thus, the "my car is making a funny noise..." scenario is a major challenge for system architects and designers. On one hand, it needs to be ensured that no disturbing noise is heard and on the other hand, the perceived sound quality needs to fulfill the listener's expectations with respect to the sound design. Through this webcast we will explore new automotive applications for acoustic processing and the signal processing technologies that enable them.

Andrew McLean received a BSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of the West of Scotland and studied for an MSc in Digital Techniques at Herriot Watt University. He has more than 30 years of experience of building and leading global teams to develop successful solutions for customers in telecom, datacenter, video processing, industrial and automotive applications. He joined ADI in 2019 as the General Manager for Automotive Infotainment products after more than 25 years in engineering and senior management roles with National Semiconductor and Texas Instruments. At ADI, Andy is responsible for a large portfolio of DSP and connectivity products targeted at automotive applications and other growth markets. Andy is a US patent holder and earned a technical Emmy for HDTV up-conversion whilst at Faroudja Labs.
