Analog Devices’ support for FIRST continues our long history of advocating STEM education – and inspiring tomorrow’s innovators.
Committed to the Future. From the Very Beginning.
More opportunities for today’s youth; a stronger economy; a more innovative future – these and many more benefits hinge on a global commitment to STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).
From our very beginnings, Analog Devices has lent time, resources and steadfast support to promote STEM education across our community. Our founder and Chairman, Ray Stata, has been a major advocate for K-12 education reform, and has been promoting engineering and science education for over 30 years. Understanding the importance of America’s innovation economy, Ray Stata co-authored the book Global Stakes, which outlined the need for greater technical training in the US. It’s a commitment that’s echoed in the actions of every ADI employee.
Our employees are lending their skills by mentoring students through programs such as Science Fairs, FIRST Robotics and volunteering at local schools. As world leaders in technical innovation, Analog Devices has a rich legacy of discoveries – so we understand the importance that comes from one generation of talent supporting and inspiring those that follow.
Supporting FIRST – for Success That Lasts.
Founded in 1989, FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is dedicated to inspiring young people’s involvement in math and science through a range of activities, mentorship programs and science- and engineering-based challenges, including the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), in which students grades 9-12 work on teams to design and build a robot to perform prescribed tasks. The students then compete against other teams in regional and national championships. It’s an exciting way to bring STEM to life and inspire incredible innovation – and Analog Devices is honored to play a role.
Analog Devices’ support for FIRST is multi-faceted and includes monetary support at the team level, as well as sponsorship at regional competitions. In addition, we are proud to be a Diamond supplier, providing parts and development kits which are used by students around the world in the creation of their robots. In addition, our employees volunteer with FIRST Robotics as mentors, judges and coaches.
Innovation Meets Inspiration.
“FIRST shares ADI’s commitment to STEM programs in the communities where we work and live by inspiring the next generation of young people to pursue careers in engineering and math,” says Vincent Roche, CEO of Analog Devices. And over the years, Analog Devices has been proud to contribute to FIRST in the form of sponsorships, mentoring time and the donation of parts and discovery kits.
Moreover, we’re excited to work with organizations such as FIRST to give back to our community, promote math and science education, and continue a commitment, steeped in our history, to support tomorrow’s innovators today.
