What is meant by the DAC output voltage compliance range?

High speed DDS ICs with integrated DACs provide an output current as opposed to an output voltage. This current can drive any resistive load, including a short circuit, as long as the voltage developed at the DAC output pin (when referenced to ground) does not violate the DAC output compliance specification.
