RTC Compensation

This application note describes methods for creating an accurate real-time clock (RTC) using the Teridian 71M6533, a third-generation, polyphase energy-meter system-on-chip (SoC). Similar techniques may be used with 71M6531, 71M6534, and other Teridian energy-meter ICs. There are two basic ways to make the RTC accurate: correct the RTC for all expected errors, or slave the RTC to the line frequency. With either method, the RTC runs at high adjusted accuracy during power failures.
