Nanjing Nari-Relays Electric Co., Ltd. Keeps the Lights On with SHARC and Blackfin
Nanjing Nari-Relays Electric Co., Ltd. (NR) is regarded as a world leader in the areas of research and manufacturing of numerical protection, automation and control systems for both HVAC and HVDC power systems.
NR found that the performance of SHARC® and Blackfin® processors was superior to microprocessor and microcontroller-based designs in the critical applications of sensing and reacting to
faults and transient events in the power grid. These functions are critical to the reliability of the nationwide power grid, from the large generation stations to the residential transformer, and at every point in between.

Interactive 4D Movie-Theatre with Blackfin-based Controller Introduced
Promwad, a Belarus-based provider of electronics development services and member of The Collaborative, Analog Devices DSP Third Party Developers Program, recently announced a new interactive 4D movie-theatre that uses the ADSP-BF532 Blackfin processor.
The mini movie-theatre, developed for the amusement industry, features seats mounted on a movable platform capable of motion into six coordinate planes. The Blackfin processor is used to calculate space coordinates and control actions on the platform motor. To control the motion, it was necessary to re-calculate space coordinates of the platform's position into motor rotation angles that required many resource-intensive trigonometric calculations. The Blackfin provided price and performance advantages and easy connection to
analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters making it the ideal choice for this application.

Register to Win a Blackfin EZ-KIT Lite From Arrow Electronics
Today's electronic devices require more feature integration than ever before, and connectivity is often at the top of the list. The Blackfin
ADSP-BF52x and BF54x series of processors provide connectivity via integrated USB 2.0 HS OTG MAC and PHY, 10/100 Ethernet MAC, serial interfaces
such as I2C/TWI, UARTs, SPI, CAN, Serial ports, which provide easy interfaces to companion ICs such as 802.11Wi-Fi transceivers, Bluetooth
transceivers, and Zigbee low-power wireless networking transceivers.
In addition to these interfaces and easy connection to companion ICs, the Blackfin processors have the ability to run the required software
stacks to support these interfaces, including USB stacks ported to Blackfin, Bluetooth stack, and TCP/IP stacks to support network interfaces.
To get you started with these processors, Arrow Electronics is offering North American customers the chance to win a free ADSP-BF527 EZ-KIT Lite®
or ADSP-BF548 EZ-KIT Lite.
