BesoVideo Eyes Blackfin® Security Camera Solutions for OEMs
BesoVideo Co., Ltd. is casting an eye on success with its Blackfin®-based video surveillance designs for OEMs. The BVIPCAM-500A, based on the Blackfin ADSP-BF561 processor, is the newest and most full-featured in the current lineup of designs from BesoVideo. The BVIPCAM-500A provides the basis for solutions including TCP/IP or wireless surveillance cameras.
Designed to speed time to market for companies producing products for China's growing video security marketplace, the BesoVideo BVIPCAM-500A enables video capture using bandwidth-efficient H.264 encoding at D1 resolution.
The systems experts at this specialist design house picked the Blackfin ADSP-BF561, with dual Blackfin cores, because the required capture and encoding demand high performance; the nature of the market also calls for a very cost-effective price. The BF561, running the uClinux embedded operating system, handles the H.264 encoding and TCP/IP network protocol in a single high-performance processor.

BesoVideo also called on the uClinux embedded operating system because of its strong support on the Blackfin family.
With its two high-performance Blackfin processor cores, flexible cache architecture, and enhanced Direct Memory Access (DMA) subsystem, the ADSP-BF561 is geared for complex control and signal processing tasks while maintaining extremely high data throughput. Furthermore, the Dynamic Power Management capabilities of Blackfin significantly lower overall power consumption -- important for BesoVideo's applications that run on battery power such as wireless surveillance and mobile DVRs.
