RF
RF devices are used to receive and transmit radio signals from cell phones, Wi-fi networks, and other short range wireless systems such as Bluetooth. RF systems need amplifiers to pick up weak signals or transmit powerful ones, mixers, modulators, and demodulators to retrieve or encode signals, and power detectors to adjust system gain. DSP baseband processors extract coded signals and encode signals for insertion into a wireless network. Direct conversion radios do much of the work on a single chip.
