The ADP2302/ADP2303 are fixed frequency, current-mode control, step-down, dc-to-dc regulators with an integrated power MOSFET. The ADP2302/ADP2303 can run from an input voltage of 3.0 V to 20 V, which makes them suitable for a wide range of applications. The output voltage of the ADP2302/ADP2303 can be down to 0.8 V for the adjustable version, while the fixed output version is available in preset output voltage options of 5.0 V, 3.3 V, and 2.5 V. The 700 kHz operating frequency allows small inductor and ceramic capacitors to be used, providing a compact solution. Current mode control provides fast and stable line and load transient performance. The ADP2302/ADP2303 have integrated soft start circuitry to prevent a large inrush current at power-up. The power-good signal can be used to sequence devices that have an enable input. The precision enable threshold voltage allows the part to be easily sequenced from other input/output supplies. Other key features include undervoltage lockout (UVLO), overvoltage protection (OVP), thermal shutdown (TSD), and overcurrent protection (OCP).

The ADP2302/ADP2303 devices are available in the 8-lead, SOIC package with exposed paddle and are rated for the −40oC to +125oC junction temperature range.

The ADP2302/ADP2303 are 2 A/3 A, 20 V, nonsynchronous step-down, dc-to-dc regulators with an integrated power MOSFET in a SOIC package with an exposed paddle. The ADP2302/ ADP2303 evaluation boards are complete buck regulator solutions that allow users to evaluate the performance of the regulators.


The ADP2302/ADP2303 integrated soft-start circuitry prevents inrush current at power-up. The power-good output indicates that the output voltage is regulated within tolerance, and it can be used to sequence devices that have an enable input. The precision enable feature allows the part to be easily sequenced from external supplies. Other key features include undervoltage lockout (UVLO), output overvoltage protection (OVP), thermal shutdown (TSD), and overcurrent protection (OCP).

Product Details

In order to get the correct unpopulated evaluation board with an appropriate Bill of Materials and Schematic, you need to use the button for "Request Evaluation Board" from within the design tool. Make sure the design tool is in a state that matches your desired power requirements.

This will create a template email that will request from us the proper blank evaluation board for that ADI part and your application's power parameters.


Note: Some parts have multiple blank boards for high/low current or for different topologies (Boost, SEPIC, SEPIC-Cuk), while other blank boards support multiple ADI parts. This is why it is important to run the design tool with your parameters before making your email request from the tool.

very small footprint for 3A DC-DC - i was able to squeeze my design in entirely sma 0.4" x 0.5". The circuit got ever so slightly warm when short-circuited several times. it drew 100 or so mA, but it has survived over 100 tests. Excellent for battery application. it accepts over 24V and it runs efficiently at 700kHz. I have been making DC-DC based on MAX724/726 or LT1024 - they drive me nuts when squeezed for more current (I can hear them from 3 feet). This one is quiet - I love it. Additionally it has the enable pin, which allows it to be connected to source at all times. We use it for our production data acquisition systems.

adp2303
Interesting product, easy to use and delivered very fast into my mailbox. Unfortunately I needed a very low voltage drop between in and out and this one's was much too high. I ended up using a chip from TI instead (very hard to solder for a prototype by the way, while ADI seems to take care of prototypers by still providing SOIC chips).

ADP2303 Buck Converter
Perfect product for industrial instrumentation and medical measurement applications, which are not sensitive to the low efficiency at low output currents. We are using it in research for DC-DC converters and the results are excellent.

excellent regulator if you are going to use it between 0.5A to 3A. the drop in the efficiency, however, is pretty bad below 0.5A. this is a very good regulator if you are continuously drawing 1-3A. However, during when the system is idle, the efficiency drop is so bad that, possibly, this is not the regulator for embedded or mobile systems ...
