The ADP3338 is a member of the ADP330x family of precision low dropout anyCAP® voltage regulators. The ADP3338 operates with an input voltage range of +2.7 V to +8 V and delivers a load current up to 1 A. The ADP3338 stands out from the conventional LDOs with a novel architecture and an enhanced process that enables it to offer performance advantages and higher output current than its competition. Its patented design requires only a 1.0 µF output capacitor for stability. This device is insensitive to output capacitor Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR), and is stable with any good quality capacitor, including ceramic (MLCC) types for space-restricted applications. The ADP3338 achieves exceptional accuracy of ±0.9% at room temperature and ±1.8% over temperature, line and load variations. The dropout voltage of the ADP3338 is only 200 mV (typical) at 1 A. This device also includes a safety current limit and thermal overload protection. The ADP3338 has ultralow quiescent current 130 µA (typ) in light load situations.

Product Details

In order to get the correct unpopulated evaluation board with an appropriate Bill of Materials and Schematic, you need to use the button for "Request Evaluation Board" from within the design tool. Make sure the design tool is in a state that matches your desired power requirements.

This will create a template email that will request from us the proper blank evaluation board for that ADI part and your application's power parameters.


Note: Some parts have multiple blank boards for high/low current or for different topologies (Boost, SEPIC, SEPIC-Cuk), while other blank boards support multiple ADI parts. This is why it is important to run the design tool with your parameters before making your email request from the tool.

This product is very interesting, very reliable and very stable but I think that, compared to its price, it has a high quiescent current consumption (current consumption when load_current=0). I has an average of Iq=110uA Nowadays this parameter is getting much more importance in embedded designs and parasitic currents will dictate the life of battery operated systems. For our electronics locks a difference in some decades of micro-amper on quiescent currents is the difference of working with a battery pack during 1 year or during 2 years.

ADP3338
Dropout is an industry leader, but, it is at the expense of a not-so-wide input range. However, this is expected. It is possible to built a very small footprint LDO with this, since the 1uF anyCAP allows small SMDs to be used. Excellent product !

Low Dropout Regulator
The regulators are very "handsome" - perfect size with stable output. It will be nice if the input voltage for the 5V-version can be more then 8V, but even so it is very nice and compact piece.
