The LT4320/LT4320-1 are ideal diode bridge controllers that drive four N-channel MOSFETs, supporting voltage rectification from DC to 600Hz typical. By maximizing available voltage and reducing power dissipation (see thermograph comparison below), the ideal diode bridge simplifies power supply design and reduces power supply cost, especially in low voltage applications.
An ideal diode bridge also eliminates thermal design problems, costly heat sinks, and greatly reduces PC board area. The LT4320’s internal charge pump supports an all- NMOS design, which eliminates larger and more costly PMOS switches. If the power source fails or is shorted, a fast turn-off minimizes reverse current transients.
The LT4320 is designed for DC to 60Hz typical voltage rectification, while the LT4320-1 is designed for DC to 600Hz typical voltage rectification. Higher frequencies of operation are possible depending on MOSFET size and operating load current.

Demonstration circuit 2465A is a 3-phase ideal diode bridge using three LT4320 controllers and six N-channel FETs. This demo board provides highly efficient 3-phase rectification with an input voltage range from 5VAC to 28VAC RMS (line to neutral) and maximum load current of 25A.
Demonstration circuit 1823B features the LT4320, an ideal diode bridge controller suitable for applications that require high current AC to DC full-wave rectification or DC polarity correction. With an AC input, the input voltage range is 12VAC to 24VAC, the output voltage can be as high as 70V, and the output current can be as high as 1.5A. The AC current is limited by the capacitance provided on the demo board and can be increased up to 17A with additional load capacitance. The DC input voltage range is 9V up to 40V, and the maximum DC output current is 30A.
The LT4320 drives four N-channel MOSFETs to perform full-wave rectification functionally similar to a discrete diode bridge but with much lower power dissipation. This topology eases thermal design, and increases usable output voltage. In addition, an all N-channel topology has benefits over a P-channel topology such as a wider selection of MOSFETs, lower cost, lower RDS(ON), and smaller footprint.
Demonstration circuit 2047A-A is an IEEE802.3at compliant Power over Ethernet (PoE) Powered Device (PD) with support for 9-57VDC and 24VAC auxiliary supply input. It features the LT4276 PD interface and switching regulator controller, the LT4321 PoE ideal diode bridge controller, and the LT4320 ideal diode bridge controller.
