Digital TriAxial Vibration Sensor with FFT Analysis and Storage
The 22 kHz sensor resonance and 100.2 kSPS sample rate provide a frequency response that is suitable for machine-health applications. The aluminum core provides excellent mechanical coupling to the MEMS acceleration sensors. An internal clock drives the data sampling and signal processing system during all operations, which eliminates the need for an external clock source. The data capture function has three modes that offer several options to meet the needs of many different applications.
The SPI and buffer structure provide convenient access to wide bandwidth sensor data. The ADIS16227 also offers a digital temperature sensor and digital power supply measurements.
The ADIS16227 is available in a 15 mm × 15 mm × 15 mm module with a threaded hole for stud mounting with a 10-32 UNF screw. The dual-row, 1 mm, 14-pin, flexible connector enables simple user interface and installation. The ADIS16227 is footprint and pin-for-pin compatible with the ADIS16223. It has an extended operating temperature range of −40°C to +125°C.

The ADIS16227/PCBZ is a "breakout board," which provides (1) ADIS16227CMLZ and (1) interface PCB to simplify the process of "prototyping" during the early stages of system design and evaluation. The ADIS16227CMLZ is a fully-integrated, vibration measurement/analysis system, which provides a serial peripheral interface (SPI) for all digital communications. It provides a flexible connector interface, with a with a dual-row, 14-pin connector. The interface PCB provides access to the ADIS16227CMLZ, using a dual-row, 2mm-pitch, 16-pin connector that supports standard ribbon cable systems and hand-soldering connection techniques. The interface PCB provides a mounting hole for ADIS16227CMLZ attachment, using a 10-32 machine screw. It also provides a set of holes for mounting the interface board to the system’s frame, along with another set of holes that line up with M2x0.4mm tapped holes on the ADISUSBZ evaluation system board.
The ADISUSB system provides a simple, PC-based tool, for evaluating iSensor products, for those who are not ready to integrate them into embedded processor systems. This system supports application software that enable basic demonstration, individual register access and data capture for each supported device. Each application software package comes with an installation wizard, which facilitates simple installation and also includes a simple USB-driver package that is easy to use. All software packages associated with the ADISUSB are compatible with the 32-bit versions of Windows XP, Vista and 7. The ADISUSB circuit board is 0.125” thick, which enables pre-drilled, pre-tapped mounting holes for each iSensor device. The mounting holes accommodate M2x0.4mm machine screws. The integrated power system eliminates the need for external power supplies in most cases, but does provide for an external power supply input, for supply-sensitivity testing. The power system uses the USB’s +5V and provides a linear regulator option for +3.3V devices.
