±14,000°/sec Digital Gyroscope Sensor
The ADIS16266 is a programmable digital gyroscope that combines industry-leading MEMS and signal processing technology in a single compact package. It provides accuracy performance that requires full motion calibration with any other MEMS gyroscope in this class. When power is applied, the ADIS16266 automatically starts up and begins sampling sensor data, without requiring configuration commands from a system processor. An addressable register structure and a common serial peripheral interface (SPI) provide simple access to sensor data and configuration settings. Many digital processor platforms support the SPI with simple firmware level instructions.
The ADIS16266 provides several programmable features for in-system optimization. The Bartlett window FIR filter length and sample rate settings provide users with controls that enable noise vs. bandwidth optimization. The digital input/output lines offer options for a data ready signal that helps the master processor efficiently manage data coherency, an alarm indicator signal for triggering master processor interrupts, and a general-purpose function for setting and monitoring system level digital controls/ conditions.
The ADIS16266 is pin-compatible with the ADIS16265 and comes in an LGA package (11.2 mm × 11.2 mm × 5.5 mm) that meets Pb-free solder reflow profile requirements, per JEDEC J-STD-020. It offers an extended operating temperature range of −40°C to +105°C.Applications
- Platform control and stabilization
- Medical instrumentation
All products in this family will be obsolete soon. Please contact ADI Sales or Distributors to arrange for final purchases and read our Obsolescence Information to review the time periods for placing final orders and receiving final shipments.
The ADIS16266/PCBZ is a breakout board that provides (1) ADIS16266BCCZ and (1) interface PCB to simplify the process of prototyping during the early stages of system design and evaluation. The ADIS16266BCCZis a fully-calibrated, digital MEMS gyroscope, which provides a serial peripheral interface (SPI) for all digital communications. It is in a 20-lead, LGA package that minimizes board space but does not support typical prototype soldering processes. The interface PCB provides access to the ADIS16266BCCZ, using a dual-row, 16-pin connector, which supports standard ribbon cable systems and hand-soldering connection techniques. This interface is also compatible with the EVAL-ADIS evaluation system.
The EVAL-ADISZ will not be available for purchase after February 24, 2017. For future ADIS16xxx evaluation needs, please use the EVAL-ADIS2 and the most appropriate breakout board (to connect ADIS16xxx device to the EVAL-ADIS2).
The EVAL-ADIS system provides a simple, PC-based tool, for evaluating iSensor products, for those who are not ready to integrate them into embedded processor systems. This system supports application software that enable basic demonstration, individual register access and high-speed data capture for each supported device. Each application software package comes with an installation wizard, which facilitates simple installation and also includes a simple USB-driver package that is easy to use. All software packages associated with the EVAL-ADIS are compatible with Windows XP, Vista and 7 and provides both 32-bit and 64-bit USB drivers. The EVAL-ADIS circuit board is 0.125” thick, which enables pre-drilled, pre-tapped mounting holes for each iSensor device. The mounting holes accommodate M2x0.4mm machine screws. This kit also includes 5 sets of M2x0.4 machines screws, which provide for the various package thickness and eliminate the need to procure additional hardware. The integrated power system eliminates the need for external power supplies in most cases, but does provide for an external power supply input, for supply-sensitivity testing. The power system uses the USB’s +5V and provides a linear regulator option for +3.3V devices.
ADI has always placed the highest emphasis on delivering products that meet the maximum levels of quality and reliability. We achieve this by incorporating quality and reliability checks in every scope of product and process design, and in the manufacturing process as well. "Zero defects" for shipped products is always our goal.
