Digital Tri-axial Vibration Sensor
The ADIS16223 iSensor® is a triple-axis, digital vibration sensor system that combines industry-leading iMEMS® sensing technology with signal processing, data capture, and a convenient serial peripheral interface (SPI). The SPI and data buffer structure provide convenient access to wide-bandwidth sensor data. The 22 kHz sensor resonance and 72.9 kSPS sample rate provide a frequency response that is suitable for most machine-health applications. The programmable digital filter offers low-pass and band-pass configuration options.
An internal clock drives the data sampling system during a data capture event, which eliminates the need for an external clock source. The data capture function has four different modes, which provide a number of user-configurable triggering options. The manual mode provides users with software and hardware inputs for triggering data collection. The automatic mode provides a programmable cycle time for capturing data. The event capture mode continuously samples data and checks it for programmable trigger conditions, then captures data once the trigger condition exists. The extended mode triples the amount of data in the data capture for a single axis.
The ADIS16223 also offers a digital temperature sensor, digital power supply measurements, and peak output capture.
The ADIS16223 comes in a 15 mm × 15 mm × 15 mm module with a threaded hole for #10-32 stud mounting. The dual-row, 1mm, 14-pin, flexible connector enables simple user interface and installation. It has an extended operating temperature range of −40°C to +125°C.

The ADIS16223/PCB is a breakout board, which provides (1) ADIS16223CMLZ and (1) interface PCB to simplify the process of prototyping during the early stages of system design and evaluation. The ADIS16223CMLZ is a fully-integrated, vibration measurement/analysis system, which provides a serial peripheral interface (SPI) for all digital communications. It provides a flexible connector interface, with a with a dual-row, 14-pin connector. The interface PCB provides access to the ADIS16223CMLZ, using a dual-row, 2mm-pitch, 16-pin connector that supports standard ribbon cable systems and hand-soldering connection techniques. The interface PCB provides a mounting hole for ADIS16223CMLZ attachment, using a 10-32 machine screw. It also provides a set of holes for mounting the interface board to the system’s frame, along with another set of holes that line up with M2x0.4mm tapped holes on the ADISUSBZ evaluation system board.
