AD5245

256 Position I2C Compatible Digital Potentiometer
Manufactured by:

Product Details

The AD5245 provides a compact 2.9 mm x 3 mm packaged solution for 256 position adjustment applications. This device performs the same electronic adjustment function as a mechanical potentiometer or a variable resistor. The low temperature coefficient makes this device ideal for high accuracy and stability variable resistance adjustments.

The wiper settings are controllable through the I2C compatible digital interface, which can also be used to read back the present wiper register control word.

Operating from a 2.7 to 5.5 volt power supply consuming less than 5 µA allows for usage in portable battery operated applications.

I used the AD5245 in a biosignal amplifier for setting the gain over a wide range, and it works fine with the 256 steps of this product. Before I used the AD5246, because I need only two terminals of the digital resistor, but the AD5245 has more steps, which allows a more precise setting of the gain. Best would be a device with a package as tiny as SC70 and minimum 256 steps (or better 512 or 1024 steps), and same type of interface (I2C)
