The ADA4084-2 (dual) and ADA4084-4 (quad) are single-supply, 10 MHz bandwidth amplifiers featuring rail-to-rail inputs and outputs. They are guaranteed to operate from 3 V to 30 V (or ±1.5 V to ±15 V).

These amplifiers are well suited for single-supply applications requiring both ac and precision dc performance. The combination of wide bandwidth, low noise, and precision makes the ADA4084-2 and ADA4084-4 useful in a wide variety of applications, including filters and instrumentation.

Other applications for these amplifiers include portable telecom- munications equipment, power supply control and protection, and use as amplifiers or buffers for transducers with wide output ranges. Sensors requiring a rail-to-rail input amplifier include Hall effect, piezoelectric, and resistive transducers.

The ability to swing rail-to-rail at both the input and output enables designers to build multistage filters in single-supply systems and to maintain high signal-to-noise ratios.

The ADA4084-2 and ADA4084-4 are specified over the industrial temperature range of −40°C to +125°C. The dual ADA4084-2 is available in the 8-lead SOIC, MSOP, and LFCSP surface-mount packages, and the ADA4084-4 is offered in the 14-lead TSSOP and 16-lead LFCSP.

I use this amplifier as a microphone preamp, but not just a simple preamp. I use it for ultrasonic frequencies. Thanks to its tiny size and very reasonable output power I managed to make the amp-mic couple so small, that it fits ear auricle! Let alone the fact that this amp is 2 channel one, which saves space twice! The amp have exceptionally low noise level as well, So saying the truth I was choosing an amp for a long time, and for the task described there is nothing better than this one.

Great amp for an ultrasonic microphone
I used these amps for an ultrasonic MEMS microphones, with frequencies up to 80Khz. Thanks you the fact that ada4082-2 has two amplifiers, I could realize two stages without increasing space. Noise is very low, quality very high. Thank you guyz!

Great part
I had been strugling with finding a split supply opamp that would work at 5V and have rail to rail inputs and outputs. Although this unit was more expensive than a generic opamp, it worked in my application without any problems. It even had the same pinout as your average opamp making it a drop in replacement. Have now started stocking this part for low voltage prototypes. Just wish it came in a DIP for breadboarding, but I guess that is what SMT to DIP adapters are for.

Dolphin hearing and the ADA4084
The non-profit National Marine Mammal Foundation and the U.S. Navy Marine Mammal Program are cooperatively developing special instrumentation to measure dolphin hearing using noninvasive, passive Auditory Evoked Potential techniques via ruggedized laptop computer. A requirement of the system is to drive a piezoceramic element attached by soft suction cup (jaw phone) to the animal’s lower jaw, the most sensitive site for sound reception. We need to drive the jaw phone with the full +12 volt supply of the laptop. We are trying the ADA4084-2 as both a low-pass filter and transducer unity gain buffer to drive the jaw phone with complex multi-tone frequencies up to 250 kHz and wideband dolphin echolocation clicks. The ADA4084 is surpassing our requirements for both bandwidth and slew rate. Although we have a limited production requirement we hope to use the ADA4084 in our equipment and the systems that we provide to various dolphin stranding networks on both coasts of the USA.
