Beijing Smart Devices, a Beijing-based PMP vendor, recently introduced the SmartQ T5-II media player, raising the bar in the very competitive Chinese market with an innovative high-end product that includes audio and video playback with very high quality TV output and gaming support. By using the Blackfin BF547 processor with power consumption as low as 0.16 mW/MHz, the SmartQ T5-II also extends battery life to 8 hours for video and 22 hours for audio playback. Blackfin's 533 MHz performance makes possible smooth TV-out video in real-time, and the BF547 peripheral set (SDIO, USB, PPI, LCD, DDR DRAM) enables glueless interconnect to key system components and SDHC expansion.
Using the Blackfin BF547 processor, the SmartQ T5-II handles MP3, OGG, WMA, FLAC, APE, AAC, PCM, ADPCM, WAV, Cue, AVI, XviD, DivX, MPEG, and MP4 audio, decodes RMVB video at up to 1024 X 576, and emulates NEO GEO, GBA, NES, and SNES game titles. The SmartQT5-II comes with a six-band equalizer, SD memory capacity up to 4GB, a 12 MegaPixel photo mode, E-Book reader, calendar, clock, FM radio and voice recorder.
The SmartQ PMP uses the uClinux operating system, and was designed using the USB-ICE and Visual DSP++ software development tools, utilizing codecs and functions from HHCN and open source libraries.
