Avnet Electronics to educate designers on robust capabilities of VisualAudio® Design 2.0.1 with Demonstrations, seminars and webinars

Norwood, MA (03/21/2006) - Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI). a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, today announced the availability of its VisualAudio Designer 2.0.1 audio design tool. The new version of the design tool, which supports Analog Devices’ Blackfin® and SHARC® processors, addresses every phase of developing embedded audio systems including design, code generation, tuning, and testing, supports additional EZ-KIT Lite® platforms and enables third-party applications to exchange data with VisualAudio® layouts automatically.

In support of the new tool, Avnet Electronics Marketing, a division of Avnet, Inc. (NYSE: AVT), is sponsoring a seminar and product demonstration for audio engineers at the Embedded Systems Conference, April 4-7, 2006 in San Jose. The seminar “A Graphical Tool for Efficient Audio Signal Processing Design” will focus on an in-depth presentation of the VisualAudio tool, with the in-booth kiosk featuring hands-on demonstrations of the product. The company has also developed a web seminar that is available on-demand on its website. The web seminar, led by Analog Devices’ Noam Levine, demonstrates how VisualAudio Designer enables the development of differentiated audio products characterized by superior quality and signal processing performance.

“As the audio market shifts from analog mixing and sound processing equipment to digital technology, there is a growing demand for higher quality audio in consumer, automotive and portable applications,” said John Croteau, general manager, Convergent Platforms and Systems Group, Analog Devices. “With the enhancements to the VisualAudio Designer tool, audio engineers are able to speed up the product development cycle and reduce time to market, risk and development costs.”

”We are pleased to provide our customers with detailed information and a live, on-site demonstration of Analog Devices’ latest VisualAudio Designer tool,” stated Ed Smith, Sr. vice president of sales, Avnet Electronics Marketing Americas. “Our factory certified field applications engineers have the tools and training required to assist customers in bringing their audio designs to market faster with Analog Devices latest technology.”

VisualAudio Designer 2.0.1 supports two additional SHARC devices – the ADSP-21262 and ADSP-21364 – in addition to continued support of the ADSP-21369 and two Blackfin processors, the ADSP-BF533 and ADSP-BF537. In addition, the new tool includes an external automation API that enable COM-aware third-party applications, such as Microsoft® Excel and Mathworks MATLAB®, to instantiate, re-draw, run and exchange data with VisualAudio, an intuitive graphical environment that enables audio engineers to bring fully optimized audio products to market.
