The new Blackfin processors - BF512, BF514, BF516, and BF518 - are taking convergent processing to a whole new level. More than DSPs, they're DSP and microcontroller together, with connectivity that's designed in. These single-core processors surpass outdated heterogeneous MCU and DSP approaches in every important way: reducing part count, system cost, board space, and power consumption. Like discrete DSPs, the BF51x processors feature high clock rates (up to 400 MHz/800 MMACS) and low power disapption per unit of processing (mW/MMACS), and like traditional MCUs, these new convergent processors are both OS - and compiler-friendly.
The new BF51x series are the future-proof processors that will help you reduce time to market, cost, and power consumption - while simplifying the design process at the same time. For a broad spectrum of portable, VoIP, and industrial applications, they're the highest performance, low power processors in the world. And they're another potent example of Analog Devices innovation at work.
