The Digital Theatre Systems (DTS) HD Master Audio Decoder library for the SHARC processor implements a DTS-HD decoder, which is compliant with DTS 5.1 specification.

Product Details

DTS-HD is a suite of lossy and lossless audio compression standards by Digital Theatre Systems to provide high quality audio sound tracks for high definition formats such as Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. Built on the DTS 5.1 lossy core encoding standard (optional on DVD Video Discs), the DTS-HD Master Audio (MA) extension provides lossless encoding for high definition audio reproduction that is bit identical to the original audio master, while extending the number of audio channels to 8 and beyond. For lossy encoding, DTS-HD offers the High Resolution (HR) extension which encodes the audio at a significantly higher bit rate to maximize quality. In addition, the DTS 5.1 core can be used to provide full back ward compatibility with audio equipment that do not support these high definition extensions.

Each module supports the Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) Blackfin or SHARC Processor family and is a licensed product that is available in object code format. Recipients must sign or accept a license agreement with ADI prior to being shipped or downloading the modules identified in the license agreement.

  • MIPS measured using a lossless encoded MA bit stream at 192kHz and 7.1 output with PBR smoothing, optimal memory layout.
  • The Blu-Ray specification only specifies a maximum of 5.1 output channels at 192kHz. Therefore the MIPS would be lower when used for Blu-Ray HD audio decoding.
  • “Data RAM” for one instance, includes Stack, Scratch, Instance/Stage, Minimum Input and Output Single Buffers.
  • 1 KiB = 1024 Bytes.
  • The averaged peak MIPS is calculated using a four frame moving average.
