Analog Devices' data converter design tools enable users to quickly and easily select, model, simulate, and evaluate our industry-leading data converter products. When designing with high-speed (>10 MSPS) and precision (<10 MSPS) analog-to-digital converters (ADC) or digital-to-analog converters (DAC), online selection and modeling tools are available. For more advanced high-speed ADC simulation capabilities, the VisualAnalog™ software package provides a customizable evaluation environment, and can also be used as a hardware controller.
Online ADC Analysis For simple product selection, a simple web based application is accessible from the product pages of devices that are supported by ADIsimADC. This tool requires no downloads and allows control of the test conditions and 'design' specific performance plots. Results are graphed which greatly reduces the uncertainty of how a part will perform in an application. The tool also allows input of desired operating conditions and required performance levels and it will recommend suitable devices to the user.

VisualAnalog™ For designers who are selecting or evaluating high speed ADCs, VisualAnalog™ is a software package that combines a powerful set of simulation and data analysis tools with a user-friendly graphical interface. Many designers are familiar with ADCAnalyzer – a tool that models ADC performance with varying input frequencies and sample rates. VisualAnalog takes this concept further by allowing designers to customize their input signal and data analysis. An input signal can be constructed from sine waves, noise sources, and vector data to see how an ADC will perform in real world conditions. The data analysis functions are expanded from the basic FFTs that are available in ADCAnalyzer as well. Customizable calculations allow designers to predict adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) and display I/Q constellation plots on simulated ADC outputs or data collected from evaluation boards. VisualAnalog™ is also used as a controller for a new data capture board (HSC-ADC-EVALCZ).

SPIController The high speed ADC SPI program allows the user to control advanced features on high speed, analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) with SPI capability. A complete list of features can be found in the specific product's data sheet and in the Application Notes: High Speed ADC SPI Control Software (pdf).
Online DAC Selection
ADIsimDAC assists the user with finding precision Analog Devices DAC's and DAC Application Circuits. It takes user inputs along with Typical Parametric Data to sort, select and suggest applicable precision DAC's, system components and circuits solutions.
Data Pattern Generator (DPG) High-Speed DAC Evaluation Platform The Data Pattern Generator is a bench-top instrument for driving vectors into high-speed Analog Devices' high-speed Digital-to-Analog converters. The DPG connects to a PC over USB, and allows a user to download a vector from their PC into the DPG’s internal memory. Once downloaded, the vector can be played out to an attached Evaluation Board for a specific DAC at full speed. This allows for rapid evaluation of the high-speed DAC with both generic and customer-generated test data.
ADISimDDS allows a user to select a device, enter the desired operating conditions and evaluate its general performance of ADI's Direct Digital Synthesis products. It uses mathematical equations to approximate the overall performance of the selected device. The tool should be used as a design aid only.
