The ADF5509 is a GaAs MMIC VCO, packaged in an industry standard 32-lead 5 mm × 5 mm LFCSP package. The ADF5509 utilizes a push-push VCO architecture and outputs both the fundamental and half frequency output. The VCO's phase noise performance of -115 dBc/Hz at 100 kHz offset allow it to meet the requirements of demanding radio systems like microwave point-to-point links. The divide-by-2 output can be input directly into Analog Devices PLLs such as the ADF4156, ADF4106 or ADF4150HV. The ADF5509 operates off a +5V supply and outputs +15 dBm typical.

    RFOUT/2 = 3.9 to 4.4 GHz
  • Very wide tuning range: VTUNE = 2V to 18V
  • Low phase noise: -115 dBc/Hz @ 100 kHz offset
  • High output power:
    POUT = +15 dBm (RFOUT)
    POUT = +7 dBm (RFOUT/2)
  • Current consumption: 300 mA typ
  • Small package: 32-lead 5 mm × 5 mm LFCSP
  • Flexible bias control allows either 5V or 3V operation
