ANALOG DEVICES’ MEMS MICROPHONE RECEIVES PRESTIGIOUS GOLDEN MOUSETRAP AWARD FROM DESIGN NEWS MAGAZINE

- ADMP421 MEMS microphone wins top honors in the Components, Hardware and Interconnect category for significant advancements in audio acquisition.

Norwood, MA (09/23/2009) - Analog Devices, Inc. (NYSE: ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal-processing applications, has been recognized as the Golden Mousetrap Award Best Product Winner by Design News magazine for the ADMP421 digital MEMS microphone. A combination of Analog Devices’ audio applications expertise and innovative iMEMS® technology, the ADMP421 won top honors in the Components, Hardware and Interconnect category for its ability to reproduce superior audiophile sound while lowering design costs – enabling portable electronics designers to create well balanced and true to life sound in a wide range of microphone-enabled devices such as cell phones, Bluetooth headsets, personal computers, and digital cameras.

"Design News congratulates the winners and finalists of the 2009 Golden Mousetrap Awards for the great work they've done to develop new and innovative products for design engineers,” said Karen Field, editor in chief of Design News. “These products showcase the highly imaginative ways that today's engineers are ‘building a better mousetrap,’ and we thank them for their contributions."

“We are honored that Design News has recognized the ADMP421 for its ability to significantly improve audio quality in portable electronic devices, while dramatically reducing power and footprint requirements for designers,” said Mark Martin, vice president, Micromachined Products Division, Analog Devices. “The ADMP421 offers the industry’s highest SNR (signal-to-noise ratio) and the industry’s flattest frequency response — with low power requirements and a small package size tailored to the design considerations of portable electronics manufacturers.”

About Design News
Design News, founded in 1946, is the leading technical resource for design engineers, who create everything from planes, trains and automobiles to cellular phones, medical devices, and, well, just about every other product on the planet. To be successful in their jobs, our readers need information on new technologies and products. They need and want to know how new solutions compare with existing products and how and where their engineering peers are using them. In particular, they are interested in the specific trade-offs and issues that are inherent in the adoption of new technology in a design effort and how other engineers manage those trade-offs. Design News is the only engineering resource to provide this kind of highly useful, practical editorial content both in print and online. We are committed to packaging and delivering that content in a format that is both quick and intuitive for busy engineers to access, whether it’s within our print publication, supplements, bi-weekly technology e-Newsletters, RSS feeds or our extremely popular website.
