AD7142... Programmable Capacitance-to-Digital Converter with Environmental Compensation
For products with increasing feature convergence, finger-driven navigation enhances the user experience - for designers as well as consumers. The AD7142 is a programmable 14-channel capacitance-to-digital converter (CDC) that enables the design of contemporary touch controls or multiple applications, such as consumer electronics, medical instrumentation, automotive applications, industrial equipment, and PC peripherals. It can be programmed for a variety of navigation functions including buttons, sliders, scroll wheels and joypads. The AD7142, with on-chip environmental compensation delivers unmatched touch control performance. It offers reliable performance over supply and temperature; improved touch sensitivity is enabled by the automatic environmental calibration and adaptive sensitivity; and low power dissipation of 1mA in full power mode, and 50uA in low power mode, both of which are 50% lower than competitive solutions. Comprehensive development tools, such as reference designs and host software are also available, to reduce time to market.
