The EVAL-AD79X8CB can be used to evaluate all three ADCs: AD7928, AD7918, AD7908. Accompanying each EVAL-AD79X8CB is a sample box containing, 1 X AD7928, 1 X AD7918, and 1 X AD7908. Depending on the ADC required for evaluation the user can place the required ADC in the socket on the EVAL-AD79X8CB.
This Technical Note describes the evaluation board for the AD7928/AD7918/AD7908, which are high speed 12-bit, 10- bit, 8-bit successive-approximation ADCs respectively. The parts operate from a single 2.7 V to 5 V power supply and feature throughput rates of up to 1 MSPS. Full details on the AD7928/AD7918/AD7908 are available in the AD7928/AD7918/AD7908 datasheet and should be consulted in conjunction with this Technical Note when using the Evaluation Board.
On-board components include an AD780, which is a pin programmable +2.5 V or +3 V ultra high precision bandgap reference, REF192 +2.5 V Reference, the AD713, and AD712 op-amps. Various link options are explained in detail on pages 2 and 3. Interfacing to this board is through a 96-Way connector. This 96-Way connector is compatible with the Evaluation board controller (EVAL-CONTROL BRD2) which is also available from Analog Devices. External sockets are provided for REFIN, SCLK, DIN, DOUT and CS signals, two biased-up circuits for bipolar input signals and eight sockets (Vin0 to Vin7) for the Analog input channels. All documentation needed for running the Evaluation Board is available on the CD containing the software that accompanies the EVAL-AD79X8CB.
Included in the EVAL-AD79X8CB evaluation board package is software for controlling and evaluating the performance of the AD7928/AD7918/AD7908 when it is operated with the EVALUATION BOARD CONTROLLER and also included is all documentation required to configure the EVAL-AD79X8CB Evaluation Board. The EVAL-AD79X8CB Demonstration/Evaluation Software runs under Windows 95, 98, 2000 and NT. The user interface on the PC is via a dedicated program written especially for the EVAL-AD79X8.
