Constant Current Source
An example of a single-supply constant current source is shown. Large resistors (≤100 kΩ) are used to maintain micropower operation. Output current can be adjusted by either changing the supply voltage VS or the R2B resistor. The output current is equal to (R2 x VS)/(R1 + R2B). Compliance voltage is: [ VL ] ≤ VS - VSAT, where VSAT can range from 200 mV - 2V for a load current change of 1 mA - 10 mA (Vs = 5V).
