Analog Devices Presents the Latest Motor and Power Control Signal Processing Technologies at PCIM 2012

ADI’s demonstrations (Hall 11, Booth 11-301) highlight motor and power control efficiency with focus on signal chains, development tools and technical support

  • Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI), a global leader in high-performance semiconductors for signal processing applications, will be exhibiting at PCIM Europe 2012, the leading worldwide exhibition for power electronics, intelligent motion and power quality, to be held May 08-10, 2012 in Nuremberg, Germany. In Hall 11, Booth 11-301, Analog Devices will demonstrate its latest high performance signal processing technologies for motor and power control, which enable motor and inverter design engineers to design products with greater precision, energy efficiency and enhanced communications capabilities.

    • Analog Devices Industrial Communications
      Illustrating how two key technologies, industrial communication modules and Analog Devices isolated transceivers, are used together with Analog Devices Blackfin® ADSP-BF506F to simplify the coordination of multiple motor drives using multiprotocol industrial wired communications such as EtherCAT, and Ethernet/IP, and fieldbus protocols such as CAN and Profibus.
    • Analog Devices Industrial Communications
      Featuring touch screen control of a robotic arm through an isolated Controller Area Network (CAN) that simplifies operation and improves accuracy. The robot arm controller board contains the ADM3053 signal and power isolated CAN transceiver and is used with the ADuC7128 microcontroller to receive CAN messages from the Blackfin ADSP-BF548-ezkit.
    • Motor Control Development Platform
      Demonstration of a complete ac motor drive development platform that simplifies the deployment of customized control algorithms, along with standard function such as Field Oriented Control using high level graphical interface tools. It shows the integration of ADI processor code development tools and Boston Engineering ac motor control development hardware with MATLAB and Simulink algorithm development and code generation products from MathWorks. The ac motor signal chain elements include input PFC control, gate drive signal isolation, current, and voltage and position feedback and a Blackfin motor control IC.
    • Isolated Gate Driver+Digital Power Controller
      Demonstration of a complete isolated DC-to-DC converter development platform to simplify the deployment of customized control algorithms of Full-Bridge converter with Synchronous Rectifiers and isolated Gate Drivers using high level graphical interface tools, while improving power efficiency. It shows the integration of ADI development tools (Guided User Interface) with the newest digital power controller ADP1046 as well as isolated gate driver ADuM5230.
    • Digital Power Factor Correction with Accurate Power Metering
      Showing visitors how to simplify the adoption of intelligent power management systems using a flexible, digitally-controlled PFC (power factor correction) engine, accurate input metering and GUI interface. The demo will include the industry’s first digital power factor correction IC with accurate power metering capability. Using continuous-conduction mode PFC techniques, designers can optimize system harmonic performance and maximize efficiency across the load range. The products featured include the ADP1048, the first interleaved (or dual-phase) digital power factor correction (PFC) controller with highly accurate AC power metering capability and the ADP1047 single-phase digital PFC controller. In addition, editors are encouraged to attend the following presentation at the international conference at PCIM, emphasizing ADI’s innovation in the motor control market. Executives will also be available for briefings on new products and Analog Devices’ strategies for improving the efficiency of motor and power control.
