Reduce BOM Costs and Enhance Design Flexibility with New DC-to-DC Boost Controller

The ADP1621 is a flexible boost controller configurable in boost, flyback, SEPIC, and forward topologies that are either isolated or nonisolated. It drives an n-channel MOSFET to convert input voltage to a higher output voltage. The ADP1621 delivers a fixed frequency, pulse-width modulation (PWM) current mode step-up control that reduces BOM by eliminating the need for a current sense power resistor by measuring the voltage drop across the on resistance of the n-channel MOSFET for voltages up to 30 V and above. A sense resistor can be added between the source of the MOSFET and the CS pin to improve accuracy. Available in a 10-lead MSOP, the ADP1621 delivers a switching frequency set using an external resistor over a range of 100 kHz to 1.5 MHz.

Family of Compact Low Dropout Regulators Delivers Accuracy, Reliability, and Functionality in Industry-Standard Pinout Packages

This ADP17xx family of low dropout regulators offers superior accuracy in a variety of compact, standard pinout packages, including a 5-lead TSOT, an 8-lead thermally enhanced MSOP, and an 8-lead, 3 mm × 3 mm LFCSP. These devices are ideal for power regulation at the load to a 1% accuracy range. Additional features include on-chip voltage tracking functionality that eliminates the need for separate supervisory/sequencer ICs, an integrated feedback network for minimal external component count, and a low noise option. Input voltages in the 2.5 V to 5.5 V range are stepped-down to 16 fixed-output options in the range of 0.8 V to 3.3 V, at four available output current limited load ranges from 150 mA to 1 A. Differentiating itself from the rest of the family, the ADP1720 has a 28 V input range suitable for powering always-on equipment with a very low 25 µA quiescent current.
