Create next-generation portable devices without increasing system cost
The ADSP-BF52x Blackfin processor family is optimized for performance-demanding portable applications including portable media players (PMPs), voice over IP (VoIP) phones, IP cameras, and mobile TV devices. With a core power as low as 0.16mW/MHz at 250MHz, the newest Blackfin processors give system designers room to innovate without increasing power consumption - or system cost.
The BF52x series offers an array of high performance/low power options. This includes the ADSP-BF527, ADSP-BF525, and ADSP-BF522 operating at 600MHz, and an ultra-low-power series running at up to 400MHz (for details refer to the Blackfin Family Benchmarks).
Each member of the BF52x family also features Lockbox™ secure technology. This gives designers the ability to implement next-generation digital rights management (DRM) content protection, including safeguards that support e-commerce and social networking applications.
To minimize bill-of-materials (BOM) cost, development time, and board size, the newest Blackfin series provides a range of options for integrated system peripherals, including:
- HS USB OTG
- 10/100 Ethernet MAC
- Host DMA port
- NAND flash controller
- Up to 48 general-purpose I/O (GPIO) ports
There is also an embedded, low-power stereo audio codec for use in space-constrained devices such as PMPs and IP phones (available on the ADSP-BF527C, ADSP-BF525C and ADSP-BF522C)
