Job Description: New Product Development - Product Engineer

The Product Engineer involved with the New Product development teams at Analog Devices will play a key role in bringing the next generation of products through the release process to a successful manufacturing launch.

The new product development teams are cross-functional and have representatives from Marketing, Design, Applications, Test and Product Engineering. The Product Engineer will participate in the new product development teams at various stages in the product development including: design review, design evaluation and characterisation, probe and final test, and setting datasheet limits. The Product Engineer will lay particular emphasis on the interaction between the New Design and the manufacturing processes in order to maximise yields and ensure trouble free production during the life of the product.

Specific Roles

  • Detailed analysis of product performance data for the purpose of determining the stability in manufacturing and projecting its yield performance.
  • Identification of product performance issues during new product development. In particular, identifying any product performance issues that may lead to yield loss and working with the development team to resolve the issues identified.
  • Understanding the product design tradeoffs, which affect yield and manufacturability.
  • Feedback of product manufacturing trends, issues and problems to the development team in order to continuously improve on the yield, and manufacturing costs of future new products.

Qualifications Required

  • Electronics or Applied Physics degree. Core subjects:- Analog and Digital electronics. Semiconductor physics will be a decided advantage. Knowledge of MOS and Bipolar characteristics are important.

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Should have good knowledge of electronic circuits and principles
  • Proven problem-solving skills. Even if answer not known should be able to work through a problem from first principles.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work in teams.

TRAINING PROVIDED (For New Graduates)

Basic training (1st Year)

  • Product Portfolio for specific strategies to which the engineer will be assigned.
  • Manufacturing (Wafer Fab & Test) Process technologies and flows.
  • Data analysis tools and Methods.
  • Mentoring by experienced Product Engineer.
  • Possible Rotation to Manufacturing Sustaining for 2 months.

Advanced Training

  • Product failure analysis.
  • Design Methods & Tools.
  • Simulation Methods.
  • + Other areas depending of specific interests of the individual e.g. Business Related issues.

RELEVANT INTERESTS
A high level of interest in and enthusiasm for both the technical and business aspects of the wider electronics industry.
